Overview
The Barrier Technician, Lead will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical security barrier systems at pedestrian and vehicle access points at task order locations. The position ensures that all work is completed to comply with all safety, code, and program requirements. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Responsibilities
• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs to the electrical, hydraulic, and control systems integral to the operation of the security barrier components. The systems can be composed but, are not limited to gates, barriers, doors, and stanchions.
• Analyze deficiencies and diagnose faults in components and equipment. Replace, or, complete repairs to faulty bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, shafts, cylinders, and other parts.
• Check hydraulic systems for wear and leaks. Replace and maintain fluid levels to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Clean and lubricate moving parts of major and minor system components.
• Inspect and monitor equipment and processes to ensure barrier operations meet safety, contractual, and quality performance standards and regulations.
• As required, supervise other barrier maintenance personnel.
• Respond to equipment outages and emergencies, or, system failures – 24/7/365. Document and report deficiencies and faults.
• Coordinate scheduling of all work with security stakeholders to minimize disruption and impact to daily operations.
• Manage work orders to ensure that tasks are scheduled and assigned work is completed in full.
• Ensure that completed work meets safety, quality, and appliable code standards.
• Ensure that all required trainings are completed.
• Provide reporting and data as required.
• Monitor inventories of parts and supplies to ensure that sufficient quantities are in stock. Submit order requests as needed, including requests for capital items.
• Observe and enforce Barrier SOP’s, processes, quality, and safety standards.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications:
• High School diploma, GED, or, equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license from home of record.
• Associates degree in a construction or mechanical related trade, or, completion of an apprentice program equivalent to a Journeyman Electrician, or, equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) years mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience in the maintenance and repair of gates and barrier systems. Experience with Delta Scientific equipment is required.
Skills & Technology Used:
• Familiar with applicable U.S. Codes and acceptable trade practices. Including but not limited to Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) standards and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
• Ability to read and interpret system’s diagrams, blueprints, drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of gates and barriers systems and related safety precautions.
• Considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electro-mechanical and hydraulic systems and equipment.
• General knowledge of industrial safety and environmental regulations.
• Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make independent decisions.
• Knowledge of principles and processes in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Basic computer skills, specifically, Excel and Word.
• Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.
• Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
• Strong oral and written English communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must already possess a U.S. Government (USG) issued security clearance or Moderate Risk Public Trust certification or be able obtain a favorable USG security clearance or MRPT certification prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance or certification level for the duration of the task order.
