The following position is to join the Raytheon Technologies Research Center (RTRC)
The Technology & Global Engineering (T&GE) organization is comprised of the global engineering function, several focused centers of expertise, and our advanced Research & Development Facility – the Research Center. By combining a passion for science with precision engineering, we create smart, sustainable solutions that prove we can do the big things the right way.
RTRC’s aerodynamics and acoustics discipline encompasses a critical mass of numerical simulation and design optimization capabilities and experimental facilities to develop novel and innovative technologies for advanced propulsion and aircraft systems, including high-speed flight vehicles.
Job Description
The Summer 2023 High Fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeler Intern will be responsible for one or more of the following activities:
Perform large eddy simulations of hypersonic flight test articles
Numerical study of technology concepts for hypersonic boundary layer transition control
Work closely with cross-functional research teams for experimental validation
Present research accomplishments in the form of presentations and written publications
Qualifications & Competencies
The preferred candidate should be well-seasoned in large eddy simulation and have an elaborate understanding of hypersonic boundary layer transition behavior and control opportunities. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and possess a variety of skills including:
Presentation, planning, problem solving, project management and decision-making skills
Expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES)
Experience with hypersonic flows and boundary layer transition control
Interest in Machine Learning is a plus
Education & Experience
Preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s degree or Ph.D. degree program or those who have completed their Bachelor’s degree AND have been accepted into a graduate program in the field of Aerospace Engineering or related technical field. A minimum 3.5 GPA is required.
