Job Summary:

The Receiver Exciter and Back End Processing (REBEP) Department is the focal point for receiver, exciter, beam steering, and signal processing technology in the Radar and Missile Defense division.  The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, support to production builds, and lifecycle support of RMD products.

We are currently seeking a Senior Radar Receiver Exciter and Mixed Signal Design Engineer to join the Radar Receiver Exciter and Back End Processing Integrated Product. This team designs, develops, integrates, and tests the Radar Receiver Exciter hardware for the combat proven Radar and Missile Defense Systems.

This candidate will have strong mixed signal Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design skills, successfully implemented designs in field systems, constructed test and integration plans, and must have a proven track record of meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets.  Responsibilities will require working within a team of engineers developing designs based on modeling and simulations.  The candidate should expect to work with Systems Engineers and other development team members in translating system performance and operational specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.  The relevant digital electronic system designs include signal processing, command, and control for radar Receiver and Exciter applications. This Radar Receiver Exciter and Mixed Signal Engineer role will be based either in Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Circuit and sub-system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification test. 

Requirements analysis and decomposition, sub-system and circuit design, modeling, simulation, and design verification test. 

Occasional travel to supplier, integration, and customer sites.

Works autonomously with limited oversight from manager.

May manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility.

May require customer interface and communication during technical exchanges and reviews.

Resolve complex technical issues seen during design, integration, and test of Radar Receiver and Exciter sub-systems.

Qualification You Must Have: 

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science or Arts in, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5+ years of relevant experience in computer or engineering OR a STEM Master’s and 3+ years of relevant experience.

Digital to Analog Converters (D/A) design and characterization

Analog to Digital Converters (A/D) design and characterization

JESD Data Interfaces.

Mentor Graphics DxDesigner or equivalent for the design of complex circuit board assemblies

High speed memory (DDR3 or DDR4)

High speed SERDES designs including 10G+ Ethernet, PCIe, JESD204B/C, and/or Fiber Channel

High speed FPGA interfacing designs including SERDES, LVDS chip-to-chip and/or board-to-board.

Low Jitter Clock Circuit designs

Low noise, low voltage, high current, and/or power regulation designs

Signal Integrity analysis including experience using tools such as HyperLynx SI

Experience working in a laboratory environment using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, phase noise analyzer (PNA), and/or spectrum analyzer to test and verify the functions of digital and mixed signal circuits and systems.

Qualifications We Value:

Writing detailed requirements, design, and test documents

A history of successfully addressing thermal challenges

Use of Power Integrity analysis tools such as Mentor’s HyperLynx PI

Use of Board Simulation tools such as HyperLynx Boardsim in particular experience with the SERDES and 3D EM Functions

Experience implementing > 1 GHz A/D Converter Designs

Experience with PCI Express Gen3/4 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet SERDES a plus

Some FPGA development and verification skills using SystemVerilog, OVM, or VHDL with some experience with vendor logic synthesis tools (such as Xilinx Vivado)

Experience working in a multi-use Engineering laboratory

Excellent communication skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a larger team

Experience in a DoD environment

Active DoD Secret Clearance
