Job Summary:

Raytheon Missiles and Defense has opportunities for a components engineer to join the Product Design and Packaging (PDP) Department.  The ideal candidate must have knowledge of circuit card assembly and electronic assembly fabrication techniques, test procedures, and constituent components.

In this role, you will work closely with several Raytheon departments encompassing ground and ship based radar and missile applications. You may work with groups from design and test engineering, suppliers, and factory/production engineers to optimize the component selections for new and legacy programs. This role also entails supporting components approval through a Parts and Materials Control Board (PMCB) comprised of members both internal to Raytheon and from customer organizations. On occasion, you will be tasked to use your knowledge of failure mechanisms and effects to aid in the root cause/corrective action determinations of device/subassembly component related failures.  Some travel to integration sites, customer facilities, and subcontractor facilities may be required.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Review of electrical and electronic component and assembly reliability and construction data, and preparation of such data as to facilitate Part and Material Control Board review and adjudication.
Interfacing with both internal and external teams (government and vendor based) to define performance, environmental, and test requirements for components and assemblies.
Creation of procurement control documentation for components and assemblies.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience to include at least 2 of the following:
Experience in parts or component engineering (component selection, DoD parts documentation as well as broad knowledge of electrical component technologies)
Experience with design of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems
Knowledge of the manufacturing process for electronics, and circuit card assemblies
Experience with the use or adaptation of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products in a military system
Knowledge of part lifecycle concerns
Experience with root cause corrective action (RCCA)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US Citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

Experience in circuit design with an emphasis on analog, digital, and power design.
Ability to understand and apply new concepts quickly, while organizing, scheduling and coordinating work phases accurately in a rapidly evolving environment
Proven multi-disciplinary technical skills to engage peers and leaders across the various Cross Business Teams and Integrated Business Teams
Experience with a wide application of technical theories and concepts related to system logistics/sustainment/production activities/obsolescence/parts qualification
Experience in Reliability Prediction or Failure Analysis
Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build a trusting relationship with the customer
Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations
Existing Secret or Top Secret Clearance
