Job Summary:
The Senior Digital Hardware Design Engineer works as a member of a cross-functional project team with system, mechanical, and software engineers.
The Senior Digital Hardware Design Engineer must be experienced in all aspects of circuit card design from concept through delivery to higher level assemblies as evidenced by multiple successful design completions (including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry standard interfaces). The Senior Digital Hardware Design Engineer will be familiar with latest technology trends in the area of microprocessor, memory, FPGA and interface protocols. Digital design encompasses the design, development, evaluation, and test of digital circuit card assemblies, subsystems and associated system level support.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Developing unit and module level requirements derived from system level requirements
Circuit card design including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry interfaces, such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
Performing analysis and testing of the FPGA, circuit card, module, and/or unit in a laboratory setting
Guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout and technical drawing creation.
Performing design work within the bounds of a given schedule, and sometimes defining the schedule.
Presenting reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff and guiding junior engineers in honing this skill.
Design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or CCAs for Missile applications.
Generate Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines, oversee the layout and fabrication of the design.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5+ years’ applicable experience in digital circuit design, analysis, test & integration
Experience with board level design and debugging board level hardware
Experience with Siemens/Mentor Xpedition (or equivalent schematic entry tool) to create schematics that contain microprocessor, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR and/or flash memories, block diagrams, parts lists and design review packages for complex electronics
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
Proven ability to take a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and develop a complete hardware design including verifying via test and integration
Experience using PCB electronic circuit design software: HyperLynx signal integrity, power integrity, and analog simulation, Xpedition Enterprise (xPCB), Constraint Editor System (CES)
Experience with complex printed wiring boards between 16 and 32 layers
Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design to cost, design margin analysis and design for production
Analog & FPGA circuit card design experience
Knowledge of software and/or FPGA code development
Experience developing design requirements and specifications for circuit card assemblies
Experience writing test procedures, conducting tests, and be proficient operating lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Experience with product transition from development to production
Capable of functioning in a dynamic product development environment with multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects
A strong advocate for process improvement
Experience as a Hardware Architect, Integrated Product Team Lead, and/or Cross Product Team Lead
Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certified and professional exposure to EVMS or similar budget tracking system
Experience with Agile Framework for Hardware Development
Demonstrated ability to manage technical and schedule risks and to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Knowledgeable in cost/schedule development and management
Effective communication skills, both oral and writing as well as thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
Experience with intellectual property generation (patents & publications)
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Active secret security clearance
