Job Summary:
We’re looking for a highly motivated and collaborative communications professional to join our Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Public Relations and Public Affairs team to support public affairs for all strategic business units and communications campaigns.
You will be responsible for engaging with relevant think tanks and third parties in Washington, DC and around the world as needed. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities to partner with think tanks and other third-party organizations to support RMD business priorities.
You will be a strategic, driven and enthusiastic communicator who is experienced in public affairs and is a strong writer.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Maintain and develop relationships with key scholars and think tank/ third-party organizations.
Identify new opportunities to partner with third parties to support RMD business growth.
Partner with Global Government Relations to ensure message alignment and identify opportunities to work together.
Connect the dots across the SBUs and campaigns to tell a larger, holistic business story.
Identify new third-parties that we should partner with domestically and internationally where appropriate.
Take a data-driven approach and collaborate with our analytics team to develop meaningful metrics. Leverage analytics to improve ROI on recommended channel efforts.
Visual storytelling capabilities to help bring messaging alive in video, presentations, and through imagery.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in Communications or Public Relations
Experience in, the aerospace and defense industry
Desired Skills:
Detail oriented with a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, and positive attitude.
Adaptability in tone and style of communications to suit different specialized and general audiences.
Executive presence and experience with executive coaching/counsel
Effectively interface with all levels of employees, leadership, and external organizations
Success working effectively in cross-functional teams
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time and resources, organize, and prioritize work across multiple projects, and work within tight deadlines
Communications and marketing analysis, including the ability to use data for impact
Agility and adaptability to changes in direction.
Strong understanding of Associated Press writing style
Experience working on Capitol Hill, at a think tank or a DC-based Public Affairs agency
Experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
Self-starter with a natural curiosity to investigate details and drive deliverables to completion
Work Location: Arlington, VA
Travel Required: Occasional travel to U.S.-based sites may be required.
