Associate Director, Systems Engineering – Lead System Engineer (Onsite)

The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

SD&A is looking for an Associate Director in Systems Engineering with the technical expertise and engineering leadership skills to drive the design and development of world-class Air and Missile Defense Systems. The Integrated Fire Control Systems (IFCS) department leads all aspects of Systems Engineering that drive the development of complex systems to support the Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Naval Power (NP) mission area from our St Petersburg location.  The IFCS department supports RMD by cultivating a world-class group of systems thinkers who work together as a team to architect technical solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges. Key technical domains include Radar Systems and Sensor Netting, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, Battlespace Integration, and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers

The Lead System Engineer is a key program role in the Office of the Chief Engineer accountable for key decisions throughout the life cycle of the program which affects our competitive position and executability. The LSE operates through coordination across Agile Release Trains (ARTs) among disciplines in the key system concepts, capabilities and limitations, architecture, and development processes (Digital/MBE). The LSE drives a common vision to the teams to allow coordinated execution of the concept during pursuit and development phases.  This will require that the LSE work across the RTX business to leverage company technology and resources needed by the program. The LSE supports program knowledge point planning through the development process, while also expanding the approaches to problem solving and designing optimal solutions.  In addition, the LSE guides the overall system architecture design decisions, utilizing the design teams to inform decisions, and ensures design compliance and system performance.

This position is onsite in the St Petersburg, FL area and is for the Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS) program area that is part of the Naval Power Mission Area of Raytheon Missiles & Defense.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

You will influence the architecture of the system, establishing processes, and align RMD program leadership, office the of chief engineer, and multiple ARTs
You will have regular communication to the RMD leadership to provide program status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed, while influencing the ARTs to ensure program alignment and teamwork.
You will Interact and coordinate with customer community stakeholders, including acquisition and technical groups, to influence and guide the development of program mission requirements.
You will provide program leadership to the CPTs and ARTs and many collaborative partners from Engineering, Operations, Mission Assurance, and Global Supply Chain.
You will mentor and guide all team members with coordinate engagement of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) when appropriate
You will apply extensive experience in task leadership and system level design, integration, and verification.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 10 years of prior relevant experience.  In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience managing and/or leading cross-disciplined teams in a technical capacity
Prior experience in Navy Program (or similar program) system design, development, integration / verification, production and sustainment
Experience using program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and/or Risk and Opportunity Management to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action to management
An active and in-scope Secret DoD security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

RMD certified Level 4 Lead Systems Engineer
