The Weapons area primarily supports the design, development, production, and integration activities associated with the Paveway IV Weapon Systems.
As a result of new contracts, the engineering team is looking for a motivated Thermal Analysis engineer with a background in mechanical simulation and test, with a keen interest in weapon systems.
The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility and the successful applicant will report directly to the Program Lead Structural Engineer The successful candidate will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing Defence Business in Raytheon UK, delivering engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.
Main Duties:
Prediction and evaluation of thermal environments and the design of thermal management solutions for complex assemblies
Undertake assessments using hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA)& Computational Fluid Dynamics tools (ANSYS / FLUENT)
Support the design development of complex systems through model validation activities
Contribute to the Structural Design Record by authoring Structural Memos
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology
Solid understanding of thermodynamics principles
Demonstrable experience in mechanical simulation for complex structures
Working knowledge of thermal evaluation of aerospace components ideally with ANSYS Workbench and associated mechanical toolboxes or equivalent
Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
Desirable:
Experience in correlating physical test results with simulated predictions
Weapon Systems domain knowledge and/or experience in a similar field
