Join the Advanced Fighter Systems (AFS) team and take on a challenging position on the cutting edge of product and technology development in Global Spectrum Dominance! This position is for the AFS Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Lead within the Global Spectrum Dominance Strategic Business Unit of Raytheon’s $14B Intelligence and Space business. The AFS MBSE Lead is responsible for aligning and driving Systems Engineering and System Modeling practices within AFS programs, pursuits, and IRADs. The candidate should have a passion for leading the team to adopt modern tools and MBSE processes and an expectation for hands-on tasks – interacting with design, integration, and test engineers to improve MBSE products and processes. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and a strong attention to detail. The individual will be required to provide functional modeling architecture and process guidance to engineering teams.

Tasks may include:
Prototyping methods and processes for improving MBSE – examples include evaluating new tool versions, leading development of automation, and exploring novel ways to connect functional models with other parts of the AFS Digital Engineering toolset; documenting new MBSE processes and helping to flow out to the rest of RTX
Conducting Model Reviews to evaluate pre-work planning, technical compliance to contractual requirements, consistency across programs, and good modeling technique
Maintaining an overarching roadmap of how AFS models fit together, leveraging common element libraries, automation, and customer- or supplier-provided functional element models
Providing expertise and guidance to assist Configuration Management with implementing model, artifact, and deliverable configuration management and version control within the MBSE toolset; this includes control of common model element libraries
Acting as the AFS focal point for interfacing with customer and supplier MBSE leads; ensuring delivered models will work within the receiving architecture and digital engineering construct
Participate in AFS product family Governance Board, especially focusing on product family architectures as recorded and depicted in functional models
Maintaining awareness of Raytheon Intelligence & Space and Raytheon Technologies MBSE standards and guidance to help align AFS work and shape corporate initiatives
Working with program modeling teams to flow information, best practices, and standards across AFS
Performing requirements generation and flowdown in a connected framework
Utilizing an Agile approach to evaluating new tools; documenting and providing training
Working with limited supervision, taking ownership of projects and processes to achieve schedule and technical goals as assigned
Desired Skills:
10 or more years of work experience in Radar, Electronic Warfare, EOIR and/or Comm programs
6 or more years of work experience with Model-Based Engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (e.g. Cameo, Doors Next Gen) and requirements generation and flowdown in a connected framework
Experience providing technical leadership within the product life cycle, especially during design phases
Comfort with Agile product development methodology
Awareness of DevSecOps and ways to tailor MBSE implementation to mesh with pipeline processes
Experience with production and/or sustainment of sensor electronics and/or mechanical parts
Experience with developing and presenting technical briefings to engineering teams
Ability to effectively lead teams of technical experts to resolve challenging technical problems
Experience identifying and providing engineering resources needed to get required engineering work product requirements done (people, processes, facilities & tools)
Excellent verbal/written communication and teamwork collaboration skills. Experience with developing and presenting technical briefings to engineering and program management teams in a professional and thorough manner
Expertise with SysML and/or DoDAF
Must have an Active or Current DoD Security Clearance on Day 1 of employment
U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have deep knowledge of project management.
Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
