Raytheon Technologies (RTX) has a Storage Engineer opportunity available. As part of a team of engineers, the candidate will be responsible for managing storage services in multiple environments as well as providing solutions for storage related issues. The candidate must be a strong troubleshooter with experience in storage issue mitigation as well as prevention. The candidate must be a self-starter, plan effectively to complete tasks, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. This position may require some on call support and overtime, occasional after-hours availability as required for installation and troubleshooting support. The candidate should be open to expanding their skill set to include skill sets beyond purely storage as there is need.

Daily tasks would include:

Storage system troubleshooting and solutions finding. This includes working with program personnel to ensure solutions are incorporated into the storage configuration. These solutions would ensure permanent fixes are found for storage related issues.

Support engineering meetings and serve as representative for infrastructure storage related matters.

Responsible for storage configuration of storage upgrades.

Update and maintain Storage Design Documentation.

Maintain storage configurations for storage devices, including SAN, NAS, and scale-out object storage. Configurations include: the types of storage systems to install, physical storage configurations, and how storage is presented to the remainder of the system

Maintain backup configurations for backup components, including backup servers, tape libraries and other backup targets, backup policies, and other backup and archive components. Configurations include: the types of storage systems to install, physical storage configurations, and how storage is presented to the remainder of the system

Maintain contact with vendors for hardware and software installation and troubleshooting

Work with System Administrators as well as other engineering personnel for implementation of storage configurations

Security Clearance Required: US Citizen and able to obtain DoD Secret clearance

Required Skills: The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD U.S. security clearance.  U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Containerized storage solutions experience (PVC/OCP/Kubernetes)

Experience with S3 storage configuration on hardware storage solutions

Must be comfortable working in standard MS Office productivity suite, including at least intermediate experience with Excel and Visio. This includes experience in creating informative charts and drawings to illustrate the storage system’s configuration and design.

Strong working knowledge of modern storage systems, both monolithic as well as scale-out storage systems

Working knowledge of fiber channel configurations on storage, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and servers, including multipath configurations, and SmartSan.

Strong working knowledge of Brocade Fiber Channel switches

Understanding of enterprise backup architecture, emphasizing Cohesity backup solutions.

Working knowledge of networks and virtualization such as vSphere.

Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with different engineering organizations to achieve the best designs while meeting schedule milestones

Security Plus certification

Desired Skills:

Experience with automation design and implementation using Unix/Linux command-line shell scripts

Understanding of Change Management processes

Experience with Atlassian product usage

Experience with DISA STIGs

Experience Linux System Administration

Experience in leading the buildout and delivery of datacenter components.  This includes:

Rack buildout verification against drawings

Delivery coordination to a site

Understanding of datacenter industry standards and safety requirements

Current DOD TS Clearance

Required Education (including Major):

Typically requires a BS/BA Degree and 5 years of related work experience. A Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) degree preferred.

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD – 161,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
