Raytheon ELCAN Optical Technologies is continuing its commitment to invest in the development of our employees. We are looking for positive, detail oriented individuals with a commitment to quality and further education. The Apprenticeship program is a 4 year commitment that will include scheduled rotations in the workplace to achieve 8000 hours, attending school and writing all applicable tests. All applicants will be required to go through an Apprenticeship Aptitude Test and Interview process.
Diamond Turning Apprentices will learn a variety of optical manufacturing processes for lenses, prisms and mirrors. Apprentices will learn to operate various mechanical and CNC equipment with a heavy focus on Diamond Turning operational processes and theory. In addition to Diamond Turning tasks, apprentices will learn about all optical manufacturing processes such as cleaning, blocking, beveling, centering, grinding, polishing and thorough inspections. Apprentices will become proficient in all aspects of optical metrology, including Interferometry.
Technical Requirements
O.S.S.D. or equivalent required.
Experience in handling of optical components would be an asset.
Knowledge of the metric system would be an asset.
Drawing Interpretation and general knowledge of GD&T is required and would be an asset.
Good math skills required and would be an asset.
Must have good finger dexterity and neat working habits.
Required to have some exposure to the operation of machine shop equipment.
Must be familiar with standard measuring equipment and measuring practice.
