Raytheon ELCAN Optical Technologies is continuing its commitment to invest in the development of our employees. We are looking for positive, detail oriented individuals with a commitment to quality and further education. The Apprenticeship program is a 4 year commitment that will include scheduled rotations in the workplace to achieve 8000 hours, attending school through an Ontario College and writing all applicable tests to achieve a Certificate of Qualification. All applicants will be required to go through an Apprenticeship Aptitude Test and Interview process.
Apprentices will have the responsibility to develop knowledge in the repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment and systems within the factory. Apprentices will learn about the maintenance of CNC milling machines, CNC multi-axis lathes, specialized optical manufacturing equipment, thin film coating chambers, and other unique equipment across the factory. Apprentices will also assist in the installation, removal and modification of all machinery and systems in the factory.
Technical Requirements
O.S.S.D. or equivalent required.
College diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent is preferred.
Exposure to technical drawing packages.
Experience with machine maintenance and repair, machine set-up.
Must have good eye and finger dexterity.
Knowledge of electric and electronic controls preferred.
Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance preferred.
Development of compressors, pipe systems, valves, fans, blowers, lubrication types/systems knowledge would be an ongoing requirement.

Physically demanding task and must be comfortable lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Must be able to work various shifts as deemed necessary
Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Knowledge of computer software, MS Word and Excel.
Strong well-rounded math skills.
