Raytheon Technologies (RTX) looking for a Human Factors / User Experience Engineer to join our Whole Life/Specialty Engineering (WLE/SpE) team. WLE/SpE is part of Systems Engineering that complements the technical activities required to deliver a project. It deals with engineering that affects the systems’ design and architecture in terms of performance, safety, usability, reliability, maintainability, availability, supportability, testability, and cost consideration throughout the lifecycle of the product. WLE/SpE applies methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams. The WLE/SpE function supports systems engineering activities including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition including user interface design, and requirement validation and verification.

Required Skills:

-Experience to apply General Human Factors Engineering practices as derived from MIL-STD-46855A:

  Analysis

  Design and Development

  Test and Evaluation

-Practical understanding and application of:

  DoDI 5000.02

  SAE 6906

  MIL-STD-1472

  MIL-STD-1474

-Ability to produce DoD required documentation consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions such as:

  HEPP, HSIPP, HEDAD-O/M, HESAR, etc.

-Experience with at least one of the following:

  Rapid Prototyping

  Workstation/Facilities Design

  Digital Human Modelling

  Human Performance Modeling/Workload Analysis

Security Clearance Requirement:

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.  U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Desired Skills:

-Demonstrated experience utilizing User Experience (UX) and User Interface Design principles

-Design of software user interfaces in an agile development environment

-Ability to apply the following standards and process requirements:

  -MIL-STD-516 Air Worthiness Criteria

  -DO-178 Software considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification

  -Human Systems Integration Certification

-Industry prototyping tools such as Axure or Adobe In Design and Human

-Performance Modeling/Workload Analysis

-Expertise working with Satellite and/or unmanned ground stations, A/C avionics modernization, intelligence communities, FAA, other governmental agencies.

Education Requirements:

Must have a BS / BA with a major in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)other related field by Summer 2023
