Senior Laboratory Mechanical Test Technician
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated individual to support research, development, and production of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine components. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Laboratory Mechanical Test Technician will be primarily responsible for performing mechanical testing (stress/strain, fatigue, etc.) on ceramic matrix composites. Tests utilize hydraulic and/or electromechanical systems including: extensometers, thermocouples, load cells, strain gages, and deflectometers / LDVTs. The Technician will be responsible for setting up tests, operating equipment, data capture, equipment maintenance and will be empowered to contribute to data analysis.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED with 3+ years of manufacturing quality-control experience
?Must be a US Citizen or green card holder due to government contracts
Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and detailed instruction.
At least 3 years of role that demonstrates mechanic aptitude
Proven attention to detail
Ability to setup highly sensitive and complex fixtures and data acquisition systems.
Ability to solder and setup and low voltage electrical systems
Experience with Excel and data entry
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Experience in product development within an AS9100 certified aerospace company
Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, and basic math problem-solving skills.
Experience performing Mechanical Tests
Experience working with Ceramics and/or composites
Previous operation and/or maintenance of hydraulic and/or electromechanical systems
Experience following ASTM standards
Familiarity with the function and application of the following instrumentation: Extensometers, Thermocouples, Load Cells, Strain Gages, Deflectometers and LVDTs
Microscopy experience is also desired but not required (i.e., sample sectioning, mounting, polishing, and microscope evaluation)

The salary range for this role is $18.00 to $36.00 per hour; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.?
