Fan and LPC, Cold Section/Compression Systems, Structural Engineer will be

responsible for the durability and structural integrity of gas-turbine compressor components of commercial and military programs through all phases of development including; design, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.  Components include airfoils, rotors, shafts, cases, and actuation linkage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Participate and lead cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy.
Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.
Participate and lead product field investigations.
Support validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.
Deliver clear substantiation documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive technical presentations to internal and external customers.
Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with peers, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected.
Assist with professional/technical development of peers.
Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100D efforts

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or in a related field and 10+ years prior engineering experience, OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and 7+ years of prior engineering experience.
US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Travel up to 5%.

Preferred Qualifications:

Structural Analysis experience
Experience utilizing ANSYS or other FEA software
Experience working in the Aerospace Industry
Experience in gas turbine
Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into sound analytical assumptions
Experience with software and programing languages. APDL, Workbench, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN, MATLAB, VBA, Python, C++, Fortran, MS Office, NX Teamcenter and SAP.
Familiar with Agile and/or Scrum project management methodologies.
Active US Government Security Clearance preferred, but not required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
