Position description:
This position reports directly to the Technical Manager. The candidate will become part of a highly focused team in a high tech, fast moving and challenging environment. The candidate will work with cross functional teams including Materials Engineering, Finance, MTS, Charter Part Engineering, as well as hourly associates. The majority of the job responsibilities will revolve around process development and certification of metallic and ceramic-coated HPT blades and vanes to become the lowest cost producer of diffusion and overlay coatings with the highest quality levels and lowest cycle times.
Key Responsibilities:
Processes standardization.
Program improvements.
Cross-approval programs on a variety of complex equipment.
New process/part introduction.
Day-to-day production support of this complex equipment.
Total predictive maintenance (TPM) programs and KAIZEN event participation all leading towards ACE Gold certification.
The candidate will work closely with the production work force to become familiarized with manufacturing procedures. Subsequently, the candidate will be empowered to lead process/product improvement teams.
Specific Deliverables: The candidate will be accountable for the following:
1) Complete project assignments on schedule and within budget
2) Provide technical innovation to develop new process and methodology
3) Act as a change agent to implement process and product improvements
4) Provide a high level of communication and cooperation with team members,
5) Actively participate in road to ACE Gold.
6) Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area
Basic Requirements:
BS in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience; or Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
US Citizen due to government contracts
Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Black Belt, Red X or other statistical problem solving training is a plus
Experience with plasma spray coatings is a plus.
