Job Description:
Pratt & Whitney’s Hot Section Engineering (HSE) organization is seeking for an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineering Manager.
Project Discipline directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines. Liaises between project management and planning, project teams, and line management. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract. Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports. Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.
The Project Discipline Manager is an integral part of the HSE leadership team and serves as the supervisor for a team of project engineers. In this dynamic and high visibility position you would be responsible for ensuring technical excellence, task execution, hardware delivery, requirements validation, delivery, and production/field support of Turbine module, the Hot Section Engineering organization (HSE).
Responsibilities:
Manages a team of primarily intermediate or experienced project engineering professionals
Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and supervises project staff to meet project targets, budgets, and milestones
Accountable for talent development and mentorship of the project engineers, advancement of the project discipline, and continuous improvement of project engineering tools and procedures
Identifies and reacts to project problems, recommends solutions, plans projects, allocate resources, conducts project meetings, and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
Effectively lead the project engineering team to meet program demands
Acts as a point of contact with the customers and develops understanding on customer needs to meet demands within the contracted scope
Liaises between project management and planning, project teams, and cross-disciplines to ensure smooth operations in project execution
Directs the work of employees assigned on projects in technical and administrative areas
Works collaboratively with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and supporting teams to solve technical issues
Implements CORE Operating system and drive process improvements
Explains policies, practices, and procedures
Basic Qualifications:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Degree
Minimum 8+ years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in Engineering and minimum 5+ years’ experience
Solid project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, and risk management required
Demonstrated experience leading teams in the successful execution of tasks to meet technical, schedule and budget requirements
English fluency (verbal and written)
U.S. citizenship required due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, MS Project, or other project management tools software
Strong analytical, problem solving and trending skills
Advanced Degree in Project Management
Able to work across functions, organizations, and all levels of Management
PMP Certification
Familiarity with P&W, or aerospace industry project management tools and procedures
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ablility to obtain Active US Government security clearance and/or maintain US Government security clearance.
