As a non-conventional machining process ME, you will work as part of Core ME to provide Manufacturing Engineering technical support to PW Module Centers and suppliers as we continue to increase production on our Geared Turbo Fan and F135 engine programs. Non-Conventional machining processes include various EDM types, Laser, and Waterjet processes. This position will be located in E. Hartford, CT.
Responsibilities:
Lead hole drilling projects, including multi-operation/technology non-conventional machining and inspection processes
Create work instructions utilizing Teamcenter and MES 2.0 (including specifications, engineering changes, QAD/process control, and tooling definition/requirements.)
Implementation of new capital equipment from specification and ordering through delivery, installation, and transition to production.
Ability to work from data such as solid models, part, and tool drawings, including part models with PMI.
Support Manufacturing Process councils including technology development
Mentoring/coaching/training of process ME’s & MED’s in methods and tools.
Partner with quality, design engineering, and procurement to provide engineering solutions and solving manufacturing challenges regarding non-conventional machining processes, including advanced military and commercial engine programs.
Solve quality issues by engaging in root cause analysis, corrective action, and mistake proofing of manufacturing processes and tooling.
Proactively work with PW Module Centers and suppliers in developing PFMEAs and control plans to for high RPN processes to provide process control for non-conventional machining processes.
Provide urgent manufacturing technical problem solving for critical non-conventional machining issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, or related technical field
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and shop operations experience with a technical expertise in non-conventional machining processes
U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
Energetic, flexible, ethical, creative, with a positive attitude
Experience with Lean or Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools
Excellent written and verbal communication
Analytical problem solving
