The Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) structures team is looking for an experience structures engineer to lead structural analyses on Externals hardware on military engine programs.  Responsibilities of the position include leading teams focused on MSEN structures top technical issues, mentoring earlier in career engineers, PL3 review of team members work, implementing improvements to structures methods and engineering standard work, and presenting results to customers and both MSEN and Program executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform structural analysis on Externals or similar hardware using a combination of hand calculations, PW tools, and finite element analysis.  Previous experience using ANSYS classic and/or Workbench required.  Expertise in Siemens NX Advanced Simulation a plus.

Lead structural analysis relentless root cause analyses (RRCA) teams including directing analysis work, assigning, and closing action items, mentoring team members, and presenting results to engineering leadership.

Lead outsourced vendors in performing ESW analyses.

Provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers with a specific emphasis on ESW proficiency improvement.

Actively improve ESW and the creation of PW play training.

Support engine testing including onsite test coverage, instrumentation selection and limit creation, engine data post processing, and reporting results to the engine program.

Perform hardware testing in PW’s Applied Mechanics Lab. Responsibilities include working with the lab to create a test plan, selection of instrumentation, assistance in rig design and mechanism of loading, structural analysis of test hardware, evaluation of test data, and presentation of results to MSEN leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience and minimum 8+ years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5+ years’ experience

US Citizenship required due to government contracts.

Travel less than 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience performing structural analysis on externals or similar hardware using a combination of hand calculations, PW tools, and finite element analysis.
