The Perishable Tooling Application Engineer supports their assigned Module Center with tooling applications, source selections, and designs to P&W standards. Responsible for supplier quality issue communication and resolution at the Module Center level. Collaborates with relevant internal stakeholders to develop new suppliers, test new technologies, and execute continuous improvement efforts with current suppliers. Expectation is that the successful candidate will be self-starting and work collaboratively to execute standards and develop cost savings projects at the Module Center level.

Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:   

Management of the standard tooling library, issuance of internal tool numbers and types for the utilization of the Manufacturing Engineering community.
Support perishable tool quality, disposition supplier non-conformances for accept or reject, lead supplier to complete root cause analyses for all escapes.
Execute to Manufacturing Engineering Specifications and Manufacturing Engineering Instructions.
Testing and evaluation of new aerospace machine tools, creating test and quality reports, identify savings opportunities, and supplier certification activities.
Candidate will be operationally and technically involved with any tool management software launches pursued by their assigned Module Center.
Role likely requires 10%-20% travel.

Basic Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience in dimension and geometric tolerance of tooling prints and models.
The candidate must be proficient in NX or similar CAD software
Participate and adhere to cross-training practices to broaden your expertise and overall business process capacity across the Module Centers & Operations (MC&O) organization.
Proficient in reading and interpreting 2-D drawings, 3-D CAD models, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
Strong Office 365 experience (e.g., Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
Understands process planning: Material procurement, sequence of operations, selection of tools and feeds & speeds for various materials such as plastics, aluminum, carbon/alloy steel, stainless steel, titanium, and nickel-based alloys.
Strong decision-making and administrative abilities.
Strong stakeholder relationship and management skills.
Excellent communications skills to all levels.
Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
US citizenship required due to contracts

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

Knowledge of Global Trade Compliance requirements
Experience in Teamcenter and SAP.
3 to 5+ years in perishable tool application and process improvement (aerospace experience preferred).
Familiarity with model-based definition (MBD).
Understanding of AS 9100
Understanding of ISO 13399
Experience working with any premier tool management software
