Designing and planning of layout for assembly and materials handling. Adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions to produce superalloy metal powders. Planning of sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
Typical Roles/Area of Focus: HMI Engineering is looking for an energetic self-starter to support the production deliveries and implementation of process improvements in the powdered metal making process. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager
Responsibilities:
Supporting suppliers with manufacturing methods and processes necessary for the fabrication and assembly of internally designed equipment
Investigating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment problems
Providing input on plant layout, capital equipment and suppliers capability
Providing input for process improvement, cost reduction and automation
Independently run capital projects ranging from life extension programs on current equipment to new design and build projects for upcoming equipment.
Design and detail custom machinery for use in powdered metal production
Maintaining and driving continuous improvements to manufacturing standard work, ensuring alignment with internal customer requirements and systemic audit findings
Communicating and reporting status of projects to senior management.
Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline
Makes significant contribution to their team by applying their knowledge of the discipline
Works with moderate guidance on projects with short-term focus
Has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and role—continuing to develop specialized knowledge
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology required, 2+ years of manufacturing / machine design experience preferred.
Familiarity with the production of powder metal manufacturing with knowledge of welding applications.
Effective communicator and experience leading projects.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic and cross-functional environment.
Proficiency in AutoCad, Proficiency in SolidWorks, experience with creating and modifying 2D and 3D models and drawings.
