Department Overview:
The Engine Design & Systems Integration Military Engines (EDSI) organization is focused on delivering systems solutions to meet customer requirements, driving engineering quality and productivity, and developing the next generation of systems engineers. The F119 Chief Systems Engineer in EDSI Military Engines reports directly to the Chief Systems Engineer of EDSI Operational Military Engines, is a member of the F119 SIPT, and is responsible for systems engineering execution, including systems analysis and functional integration, systems architecture & design, design integration & requirements, structures integration, engine dynamics and loads, air systems, and survivability.
Key Responsibilities:
Incumbent leads an organization with leads and supervisors who manage teams.
Establishing a systems level strategy for F119 program and activities that support Pratt & Whitney Military Engines efforts to support the F-22 fighter engine.
Effectively leading, developing, motivating, and engaging members of the EDSI team
Applying risk-based decision-making that appropriately prioritizes product safety, cost, schedule and manpower resources.
Effectively communicating and interacting with a multitude of disciplines and organizations. For example: Systems Design, SIPT, Mod Center Engineering, Operations/Production organization, Product Safety Board, and external customers
Effectively influencing executive leadership in approaching and resolving problems that are technical in nature.
Serving as a governing member of the SIPT – a cross functional team designed to solve technical issues that affect their specific engine program.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 14+ years of engineering experience, or an advanced Degree in Engineering with 12+ years engineering experience.
Deep technical expertise in systems-related engineering disciplines (performance, structures, aero/thermal, software design, etc.).
US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
Occasional domestic travel is required (15%).
Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
Strong proficiency in the following competencies: strategic leadership, talent development, customer focus, focus on results, adaptability, and innovative and analytical thinking.
Experience providing guidance and leadership to implement changes.
Knowledge of the F119 engine is preferred but not required.
