Department Overview

Pratt & Whitney Puerto Rico is a near-shore Global Engineering Center fully integrated into all P&W Engineering organizations to support the product lifecycle of commercial and military engines.

As a renowned leader in jet engines, Pratt & Whitney continually strives to maintain a world-class safety record. The number of Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft is increasing with the introduction of our Geared Turbofan engine families while legacy fleets continue to fly. The Operational Commercial Engines Safety Team, part of Engineering Product Integrity, is seeking a highly motivated individual to aid in the assessment of flight safety-related issues.

These positions are based at the P&W Puerto Rico facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform low to medium complexity qualitative and quantitative safety risk assessments on gas turbine propulsion system flight safety hazards.
Understand quantitative models blending engineering insights and statistical methods to determine required actions.
Producing detailed documents describing the inputs and outputs of assessments.
Supporting tracking/monitoring of safety issues throughout the Safety Issue Management (SIM) process.
Candidates should have successfully demonstrated analytical and mathematical modeling skills to solve problems and the ability to work at an implementation level.

Other areas of responsibilities to be supported as needed are:

Attend and participate in group meetings, teleconferences, and/or training required.
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using internal quality tools.
Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Software, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Fluent in English (verbal/written)
Minimum GPA of 3.0
US citizenship required due to government contracts
Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work onsite full-time in a classified environment
Strong knowledge of Thermodynamics and Fluids Mechanics.
Familiarity with agile development methods
Understanding of gas turbine jet engines
Strong analytical background, ideally with computer programming experience
