This posting is for Power Systems Engineer within the Electric Propulsion Discipline. Come become a part of the future of sustainable aviation by electrifying our skies. The Systems Engineer will support P&W electrification efforts through design and development of electrical powertrain systems.   The Power Systems Engineer will be responsible the design, modeling and analysis of power electronics, power distribution and protection systems, energy storage systems and electrical machines.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems engineering of electric powertrain systems for aerospace electric propulsion ground and flight demonstrator programs.
Development of electrical system and subsystem requirements to meet platform level metrics.
Identification and quantification of electric powertrain system architectures, creation of alternative system design concepts, performance of design trades, selection and implementation of the best design, verification that the electrical system hardware and software design is properly built and integrated on the target hardware, and development of integrated electric system validation and verification plans.
Execution of electric powertrain modeling capability to trade studies and hardware development activities.
Coordinates interface between Pratt & Whitney and internal/external customers regarding electric propulsion system content in notional engine trade studies and designs.
Development of systems engineering processes for standardization across the Electric Propulsion discipline.

Basic Qualifications:

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years
prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Experience with high power electrical system requirement definition and analysis, as well as in electrical system architecture definition and functional integration experience with an advanced degree.
Demonstrated record of technical contributions regarding high power, high voltage electrical systems.
Deep technical knowledge in power electronics, electric machines, high voltage systems and high-power protection systems.
US Citizenship required due to government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Demonstrated record of System Integration of complex systems is preferred.
Knowledge of battery and other energy storage systems.
Solid communications skills and ability to coordinate activities between diverse set of stakeholders.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment where change is the norm rather than the exception.
Knowledge of System Integration skill areas.
Broad familiarity with military or commercial gas turbine engine and air cycle system design, development, and validation desirable.
Security Clearance is preferred; Ability to obtain and maintain.
