Job Description:
The Software Quality Assurance function assesses the software life cycle processes and their outputs to obtain assurance that the objectives are satisfied, that the deficiencies are detected, evaluated, tracked and resolved and that the software product and associated lifecycle data conform to certification requirements. The Software Quality Assurance representative performs an integral and active role in every aspect of the software life cycle and is enabled to perform with authority, responsibility and independence to ensure that the software quality assurance process objectives are satisfied.
The job responsibilities require an understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, Agile methodologies, RTCA-DO-178B/C, and military Data Item Descriptions. Candidate will plan and accomplish a wide variety of quality activities with moderate guidance related to software development, verification and the use of software in design, test and analysis activities. These include embedded software assurance, modeling audits and reviews, product security and process assurance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Review internal and supplier documentation to assure adequacy of definition, and conformance to contractual, regulatory and P&W requirements.
Plan and schedule internal and supplier audits according to the program’s system and software release schedule
Perform audits of the Embedded and Modeling software processes and the Process Assurance function for compliance to contractual, regulatory and approved plans and standards.
Generate associated Software Quality Assurance records in a timely manner
Participate in associated program and customer reviews
Participate in test witnessing activities, when and where applicable
Participate as an integral member of the program’s Integrated Product Teams
Collect and analyze process data, and generate presentation material for Supervisor, Management and Customers.
Evaluate proposed correction and corrective action plans and its effectiveness at correcting and eliminating the root cause of identified discrepancies.
Ensure that the necessary correction and corrective actions are implemented and are effective.
Drive process improvements and defects elimination within the Software Quality Assurance function
Approval of software for external release to both military and commercial customers
Support external certification audits from the company’s certification body.
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of experience in Engineering or 3+ years with an advance degree
US Citizenship required due to government contract
Security clearance or the ability to obtain one
Familiarization with coding standard, verification and validation, version control, change control process, configuration management, access control, archive, backup and recovery
Familiarization with software support tools which are used for the analysis, design or support of products but not used in the manufacture or acceptance of production product (e.g., software models, tools used to facilitate repetitive calculations, software tools used to eliminate manual steps).
Preferred Qualification’s:
3 to 5 years of software quality experience with a strong understanding of process capability including AS9100 and RTCA-DO-178B/C.
Strong written and verbal communication and applications including MS Office, plus applied knowledge and daily use of lean manufacturing principles, especially RCCA/DIVE, are all required.
Should be able to demonstrate a high level of customer focus, listening and teamwork.
Knowledge of Product security is a plus.
ASQ or CQA auditor certification is helpful but not required for this position.
