Department Overview

The Pratt & Whitney Oklahoma City Heavy Maintenance Center (HMC) Production Engineer (PE) will provide manufacturing process engineering work instructions and technical guidance to facilitate disassembly, repair, assembly, and testing of gas-turbine engines at the maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in support of production delivery schedule. 

Key Responsibilities

Read and provide interpretation of technical data as necessary to support production
Participate in teams reviewing and investigating process breakdowns; perform root cause and corrective action on parts and processes that are not in control
Develop and/or utilize robust standard work and desktop procedures for HMC PE processes
Provide timely workscope definitions for engine and/or module repair that are comprehensive, clear, concise, cost effective, and meets customer-defined requirements
Approve complex work control documents used for maintaining engine/module hardware
Provide disposition to work requests/work package changes using standard work processes and approved technical references for released work control documents
Provide technical assistance when verification of proper configuration of engine/module hardware is needed
Aid in training mechanics on new tech data that has become available
Perform any other related functions or support other MRO production lines as required by management to ensure the success of the enterprise

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college/university
US citizenship required due to government contracts
Fluent in English (verbal/written)

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
Ability to write concise, easy-to-understand technical work instructions
The ability to work in cross-functional teams on a wide variety of tasks and with limited supervision
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be willing to work 1st (0700-1600) or 2nd (1400-2300) shift and work extra time as necessary to ensure completion of assigned tasks. May be called in off-hours to answer process-related questions. 2nd shift is only applicable to F135 HMC.
Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices
Advanced degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college/university
Operational experience in an MRO engine facility
Engineering degree
Knowledge and experience using precision measuring instruments
Experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP
