Pratt & Whitney has just completed construction on a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new 1,000,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry for production of turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of hardware onsite. This state-of-the-art facility will also implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles while complementing existing turbine airfoil work that is currently done across Pratt & Whitney’s facilities.
The Vanes Manufacturing Engineering organization within the Asheville site is seeking a motivated Process Manufacturing Engineer to help develop finishing processes and drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the assigned Manufacturing Area. Key Vane Manufacturing Areas currently needing support are Mass Airflow Inspection, Thermal Wave Imaging, CMM Flow Area Inspection, X-Ray and Part Marking.
Key Responsibilities:
Own all technical aspects of the assigned Manufacturing Area.
Coordinate with Machine Tool Builders on technical requirements.
Work with Vendors on Durable and Perishable Tool design. Own the result.
Write part specific machine programs when needed. Drive implementation.
Develop detailed work instructions for processes within designated area.
Participate in PPAP/MRL activities related to assigned Manufacturing Area.
Participate in Lean Mfg initiatives and support improvements in Cell Layouts.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
US Citizenship required due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related Technical Field with 3+ years of experience in a Precision Manufacturing environment.
Broad knowledge of the Aerospace Industry and experience in Gas Turbine Engine parts manufacturing.
