Pratt & Whitney Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engines. EDSI is responsible for overall engine system definition and management. This includes engine performance, operability, system level modeling and simulation, validation and verification of performance and operability requirements, and functional engine and air vehicle systems integration. EDSI also defines engine architecture, system and structural design as well as manages all functional requirements across the program.

This posting is for a Systems Engineer that is responsible for leading the Control Requirements Analysis Team on the PW1500G and PW1900G engine programs – the most advanced propulsion system for the Airbus A220 and Embraer E-JETS commercial jetliner. A willingness to stretch into Systems Analysis for performance, operability, and field support is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

Ownership of the functional requirements for the PW1500G and PW1900G
Integrate and lead communication with the Controls & Diagnostic Systems organization
Product Owner on Agile SCRUM Team
Interface with airframe customers and operators on requirements definition, development, and impact
Deliver requirement definition, technical validation, and certification documentation to controls team and customers
Negotiate requirements and software delivery schedule with controls and external customer
Lead control system Functional Readiness Review for engine test, flight test, and fleet operations
Write test plans for validation and verification of requirements
Provide FAA part 33 certification documentation to airframe customers and cert authorities
Manage software versions pertaining to engine hardware configuration
Lead studies regarding engine requirements definition
Represent engine design and system integration discipline on various cross-functional teams interfacing with various systems and component groups as well as with airframe customers.
Mentor other EDSI engineers
Growth opportunities include additional multi-disciplinary leadership roles in systems engineering, integration, data analytics, aircraft performance, control definition, advanced modeling techniques, and test disciplines for commercial engine platforms

Basic Qualifications:

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
US Person Status required due to government contracts
Experience with requirements definition and management
Knowledge of engine systems and software logic
Teamwork and communication skills
Experience in managing internal and external customers

Preferred Qualifications:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Practical knowledge of Part 33 and Part 25 Certification
Practical knowledge of Agile
Knowledge of control logic and control schedules generation
Experience with Python and SQL is a plus
