Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal System Engineer – Requirements Lead (23-008) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

Successful candidate will perform use case development, and prepare systems engineering artifacts including definition of Epics and Features under the direction of the Engineering Support ART to be developed by program Cross-Functional Product Teams to implement customer requested capabilities. Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, system engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews.

Essential Functions:

Position will also provide use case development support to junior systems engineering team members to enhance use case skills in the department.
Work will be performed under the direction of the ES ART, various product owners and require interfacing with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available.
Responsibilities include adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basis.
Candidate will be actively involved in the efforts associated with Agile development including iteration planning, statusing, and agile team leadership.
 

Basic Qualifications:

If applicable, please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.

An active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.
9 Years with Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field; 7 Years with a Master’s degree.
A successful applicant should have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.
Candidates should have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g. specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.).
Candidates should have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions.
The Systems Engineer should have demonstrated contributions to implementation that includes the ability to analyze high level needs and defined a structured and logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that led to a fielded product.
The Systems Engineer should have demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively, clearly present technical approaches and findings, and have experience in writing and implementing engineering plans within a project.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Metric Development, MBSE and Architecture development.

This position reports to Schriever AFB, CO, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Colorado Springs, CO, CO, USA.

Salary Range: $117,900 USD – $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
