Northrop Grumman Aeronautics sector is looking for a Tool Gauge Inspector – Level 2 to support the tooling department within our Mission Assurance team. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.
The responsibilities include:
Inspection of highly complex aircraft tooling including jigs, fixtures, dies, patterns and shop fabricated machine tools.
Determines and plans inspection procedure including layout and set up.
Assembles and uses tooling information and data received from production, tooling, engineering and other functions.
Inspections involve many closely coordinated location points, dimensions and/or tooling holes in several planes not at right angles or parallel, irregular contours requiring spring back and dimensional calculations, multiple acting principles and computations of compound angles.
Makes layout directly on tooling to check layout and workmanship of tool maker and coordination with related tools in the set when an error is suspected.
Uses complex blueprints, loft practice and procedures and trigonometry to solve oblique triangles.
Tests units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.
Verifies accuracy of measuring instruments such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges, optical equipment, and electrical and functional gauges using master gauges.
May use optical instruments to examine measuring instruments for wear, damage, and defects, and makes adjustments to inaccurate instruments.
Maintains records of tools and tooling inspections.
Basic Qualifications Level 2:
High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of tooling experience.
Experience with understanding complex blueprints.
Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule.
Must be technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time.
Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical and repetitious work to include climbing, bending, crawling, stooping, and kneeling, lifting, working with arms overhead, leaning and laying and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to work in and around Confined spaces to include but not limited to fuel tanks and ducts.
Must be able to push and pull own body weight to enter and exit confined spaces
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance
Salary Range: $56,600 USD – $94,300 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
