SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing a variety of machinist responsibilities which may include but are not limited to the following:
Must be capable of manufacturing complex close tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Inconel, Macor, Fiberglass Epoxy, Aluminum, etc. Programming in Mastercam version 2020 or higher, creating geometry, or using Solid Models, IGES, STEP, DXF files, and 3, 4, and 5-dimensional advanced programming techniques is a must. Must have a high-speed machining background with the ability to work a two-axis trunnion.
The applicant should also be well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI 14.5M 1982/1994 specifications to interpret actual position and tolerance requirements. Capable of operating FADAL, DMG, Mazak, and HAAS CNC 3, 4, and 5-axis machines. Also, able to program and operate turning machines with live tooling. A strong background in conventional manual equipment and can use inspection tools to inspect manufactured hardware. Able to work with little or no direct supervision. Willingness to work overtime when needed to satisfy customer requirements. Experience in wire and plunge EDM is a plus.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
AAAS Degree plus five years of experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist or High School Diploma/GED and ten years of experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist.
Five years’ experience in programming skills using Mastercam, Smartcam, or GIBBS required.
Experience in the aerospace industry as a machinist
Experience programming, setup, and then producing parts with minimum supervision
Experience manufacturing complex tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Stainless, Aluminum, etc.
Experience in multi-axis machining and turning with live tooling background.
Experience in high-speed machining.
Conventional machining background
Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Experience with Haas, Mazak, DMG, and Fadal CNC Mills
Experience with Vericut, NX, Catia5, and AutoCAD
Excellent communication skills.
Experience in wire and plunge EDM.
Able to grind tooling for needed projects.
Salary Range: $73,200 USD – $122,000 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
