The Emerging Capabilities Development group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an independent, motivated, and resourceful Inspection Engineer for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) – located outside of Baltimore, Maryland – where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.

Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. The Inspection Engineer should possess some knowledge of optical image and review techniques, tools, and practices.

The Associate Inspection Engineer should possess some knowledge of optical image and review techniques, tools, and practices.

The selected candidate should have an aptitude to:

Defect identification and classification with high level degree of accuracy
Highlight wafer signatures and defect trend deviations on daily basis
Demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others and work equally well independently and as part of a team

The 2nd shift is typically Mon-Fri (approximately 2PM-11PM).

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
 

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Inspection Engineer:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or other related technical discipline (years of experience will be accepted in lieu of degree)
Have understanding/knowledge of optical microscopes usage and results
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
Ability to work 2nd Shift hours (approximately 2PM-11PM)
Ability to work within a cleanroom environment

Basic Qualifications for Inspection Engineer:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or other related technical discipline with 2 years related experience. (MS w/0yrs)
Have understanding/knowledge of optical microscopes usage and results
Have understanding/knowledge of semiconductor processing with defect metrology tools.
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
Ability to work 2nd Shift hours (approximately 2PM-11PM)
Ability to work within a cleanroom environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a cleanroom environment
Hands-on experience with defect metrology inspection and review tools
Experience with analyzing wafer signatures and defect Pareto
Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), JMP
Active Secret clearance

Salary Range: $67,000 USD – $100,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $81,000 USD – $121,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
