Northrop Grumman’s Employee Experience Communications team seeks a creative employee communicator who is confident in being a strategic advisor, thrives on the challenge of informing and inspiring employees around business priorities and culture, loves to story tell and constantly seeks to improve through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment.

This position reports to the Employee Experience Communications manager for Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector, and is located in Dulles, VA.

In this job, you’ll:

Support our efforts to inform and inspire employees and drive business priorities within a division of Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector.
Collaborate with a cross-functional team to execute strategic campaigns that engage demographically and geographically diverse audiences, some of whom are difficult to reach.
Write, draft, edit and help facilitate the design of internal materials, newsletters, employee feature stories and other engaging content.
Conceptualize, procure and produce a diverse array of inspirational content about our people, technologies, successes and business capabilities. Content will range from articles and videos, to interviews, Q&As, infographics, and photo/caption features.
Lead editorial planning and content generation about our pioneering space technologies, our innovative people, and our business achievements.
Assist in the planning and execution of internal events.
Provide detailed reports highlighting internal metrics.
Work alongside colleagues from corporate Communications to identify and promote great stories via multiple traditional and digital mediums.
Support maintenance of internal communications tools, including websites and digital signage monitors.
Ensure all communications plans and tactics are consistent with the company’s strategic vision and reflect the Northrop Grumman brand.
Work with other Communications personnel across the sector and corporation.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3: 

Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices – OR – 4+ years of experience as outlined above with Master-level degree. 

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4: 

Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices – OR – 8+ years of experience as outlined above with Master-level degree. 

Additional Basic qualifications for both levels:

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Possess a high level of integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information.
Experience executing high level projects with specific outcomes and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with successful email campaigns and newsletter creation.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Affinity for developing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Strong business presence with a history of cultivating trusting relationships with multiple teams and leaders.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with accuracy and composure.
Possess a high level of interpersonal skills and a “can-do” attitude.
Experience leveraging data to create and execute communications strategies, plans, programs and events.
Understanding of Associated Press writing style.
Aerospace and Defense experience.

Salary Range: $83,800 USD – $125,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $103,900 USD – $155,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
