Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Lead and Sr Principal Systems Engineer at our Rolling Meadows / Arlington Heights, IL location.  The selected candidate will report to the SEIT Targeting Department.  The SEIT Targeting Department supports various Targeting Operating Unit programs including LITENING and IRST as well as restricted programs related to other Business Units. 

The SEIT Lead provides leadership in applying the core principles of systems engineering in order to deliver innovative, affordable, highly reliable systems solutions that meet customer needs, key performance parameters, and program execution goals. The SEIT Lead will lead multi-disciplined engineering teams (ranging from 1 to 30+ engineers) from business capture through system design and then integration and test of highly complex technical systems.  The SEIT Lead must be able to satisfy allocated cost and schedule requirements and managing customer deliverables.

Responsibilities may include engineering leadership for system architecture development, requirements development, hardware/software design, verification and validation activities, and production program engineering support. A person in this position ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for our customers and that the program and product is compliant with company policy, procedures, and quality standards. 

Staff Engineer Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: 

BS degree in engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of 14 years’ related experience in an engineering environment
Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills
Strong work ethic and the proven leadership skills in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
Candidates should have background and understanding in various tools and techniques associated with cost/schedule management
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Candidate must have the ability to obtain a full Secret clearance and SAP clearance prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications: 

MS degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related technical degree with a minimum of 12 years’ related experience in an engineering environment
Experience in all aspects of the engineering process from proposal / requirements analysis through verification testing
Experience in a Systems Engineering Integration & Test environment for EO/IR, laser, or related complex electronic systems especially within the defense industry
Experience in development and Earned Value Management (EVM) of cost accounts and schedules
Active Secret or Top Secret clearance

Qualifications for Sr Principal Systems Engineer:

Salary Range: $153,600 USD – $230,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $123,800 USD – $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
