Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Sr Principal Systems Engineer to fill the fast-paced, growing, and dynamic role of Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test Lead to support our Ground Satellite Communications Systems (GCSC) Operating Unit (OU) located in Colorado Springs, CO.    This role is an individual contributor/technical lead supporting engineering activities on one or more assigned programs.

This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities include:

Executing the overall systems engineering effort on the program, directing the execution of all systems engineering activities. 
Cost, schedule, and risk and opportunity including the following program core functions:
System and Lower-Level Requirements Documents,
System Integration & Test Plan,
System Verification & Validation Plan(s),
System Verification & Validation Report(s)
Support the Technical Performance Measures (TPMs), Performance Management and Measurement, and Analysis and Requirements Development and Management.
Ensure the execution of systems engineering sustainment and development processes
The production of core systems engineering work products and track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.
Ensure that all applicable specialty engineering disciplines are horizontally integrated across applicable phases of the systems engineering lifecycle
Engineering background in Systems/Software Engineering including deriving hardware and software requirements and designing, developing, and testing systems
Participate in proposal development including Develop Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROMs) and Basis of Estimate (BOEs), Integrated Master Schedules (IMSs), Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs), and contribute to CSOW development.
Work the management of program risks and opportunities, including assess cost/schedule impacts; develop handling plans to avoid or mitigate risks
The production of core systems engineering work products and track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.
Experience Control Account Manager (CAM);
Manage budgets and effort for multi-discipline engineering teams.
Experience in Earned Value Management implementations:
actively monitor and track task progress,
identify risks, develop VARs,
cost schedule integration,
budget/forecasting,
change requests

Basic Qualifications:

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer / SEIT Lead:

9 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or related field; 7 years of experience with a Masters’ degree; 3 years of experience with a PhD
4 years of experience in any combination of Systems/Software Engineering, Integration and Test engineering disciplines.
Active DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 years.
Experience leading multi-disciplined SEIT teams in sustainment and development.
Experience with all phases of system development lifecycle.
Experience in proposal development.
Experience with management and development of program risks and opportunities.
Experienced Control Account Manager (CAM) for multiple control accounts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience prioritizing program efforts in a high tempo environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated aptitude for analytical problem decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, solution implementation, metric development, and metric evaluation
Proven strong leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills
Experience with OPIR sensors and systems a plus
Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) Program Engineering experience.
An ability to showcase the company’s capabilities to existing and potential customers to support business development activities
Experience working in an Agile framework
Experience with U.S. Government contracts

Salary Range: $117,900 USD – $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
