Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer/ Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

What you’ll get to do:

The selected candidate will be reporting to the AVE Interfaces & Architecture Lead. They would be responsible for Systems Engineering Interfaces artifact and design development for one or more of the Missile Elements (i.e. Booster Stages, Guidance & Control, Reentry Vehicle etc) in the AVE Segment-System.

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

Lead the development of key interface artifacts for the GBSD Missile (AVE) These artifacts include Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Description Documents (IDDs), and Interface Requirements Specifications (IRSs). Additionally, adding portions of their content into the MBSE model
Coordinate with various teams to analyze, develop, document and maintain interface requirements and design solutions
Work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Point of Contacts (POCs) to review mechanical, thermal/structural, fluid, software and logical interface designs by leading Interface Working Groups between the interface stakeholders
Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure proper verification and validation of the interface requirements
Work with their MBSE counterparts to ensure the interface requirements are integrated into their designated model-based artifacts (e.g. DOORs, Cameo)
Support to incremental CDR execution eventually culminating in an AVE CDR (includes execution of CDR, readiness assessment)
Support to flight design review (FDR)
Work in a collaborative environment, across all system functions.  Work with teammates across a wide variety of disciplines and get intimately familiar with all aspects of the Missile
Willingness to learn and work across multiple IPTs through multiple engineering disciplines

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll bring these qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
A minimum 2 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; 0 years with a Master’s. (Principal level requires 5 years with a bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s degree; or 0 years with a PhD)
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher
U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)

These qualifications would be nice to have:

Experience working in requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (CAMEO)
Missile design and development experience
Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset
Strong work ethic and the ability to work self-sufficiently and as part of an integrated product team (IPT)
Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skill


Salary Range: $73,400 USD – $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD – $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
