Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Sr. Principal Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Supplier Performance Management Field Engineering team. This team supports programs with suppliers across the United States and Internationally. The location required is in the New York region with support in New Hampshire

This position works a 9/80 schedule and will travel an estimated 75%.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Collaborate in a team environment, negotiate, and integrate different viewpoints, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.
Represent the company with credibility, confidence and professionalism.
Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections and Source inspections on various categories of hardware such as PWBs, CCAs, cables and connectors, microelectronics, electro-mechanical systems, and power supplies. 
Understands continuous process improvement (CI) and can effectively develop and execute CI initiatives and activities.
Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
Analyze and interpret data to identify suppliers’ process issues and developing solutions
Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier’s processes are robust and capable, as well as compliant to Military and Space requirements.
Effectively perform supplier surveillance activities designed to manage and improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation.
Apply technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts to analyze and audit our suppliers’ processes and capabilities.
Capable of leading cross-functional teams in pursuit of performance improvements aligned to department and organizational goals
Mitigate supplier quality risk to prevent/minimize business impact from supplied material defects
Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims
Lead on-site supplier engagements, including performance reviews and Quality System audits
Be able to analyze and present data to all levels of leadership
Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
Understands general contracting principles in a Department of Defense and commercial environment
Establish positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
Develop and mentor new engineers.
Must be a self-starter able to plan and schedule the required activities and must be flexible to accommodate urgent program needs.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field and 9+ years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Design Engineering and/or 9+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements
Must be able to travel up to 75% of the Time
Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
Demonstrate skill to lead teams and projects
Knowledge of J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, 610, 620 or Mil-Std-883

Preferred Qualifications:

Possess current DOD Secret Clearance.
Experience working in the defense industry.
Strong Mechanical Background
Process knowledge and manufacturing engineering experience in PWB, CCAs, microelectronics, RF devices, electro-mechanical systems, and Power Supplies.
Certification in J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, 610, 620 or Mil-Std-883.
Experience with Space Requirements
Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
Lead auditor experience to ISO 9001 and AS9100, AS9102 requirements.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5M)
ASQ Lead Auditor, CQE, CQM Certification

MAQEA

Salary Range: $107,000 USD – $160,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
