Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. A competitive relocation package may be offered. Final grade level will be based on experience.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The qualified candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the mechanical design of the GBSD Launch Equipment (LE) Mechanical Systems (MS). The role will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
Responsible for evaluating mechanical systems, products, components, and applications by reviewing designs.
Ensures product quality by reviewing mechanical designs and validating that current standards are applied.
Supports the delivery of Mechanical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts
Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues
Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
Developing and maturing Mechanical System designs that meet Weapon System requirements, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree
Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD
Experience supporting/leading Mechanical design efforts on Military Construction (MILCON), major infrastructure/building projects, or Aerospace and Defense programs.
Must have US citizenship with ability to obtain a DoD clearance and Special Program Access
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and succinctly
Proficiency with Revit, Siemens NX and Teamcenter
Current DoD Secret clearance granted or re-investigated within last 6 years
Salary Range: $66,600 USD – $99,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $82,000 USD – $123,000 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
