Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the System Support Team. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience level.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will join the GBSD transportation team and will support the design and development of the GBSD major maintenance vehicles. In this position, you will have ownership of your work from the concept creation through the design, analysis, manufacturing and verification of the vehicles.

Roles and Responsibilities include:  

The candidate will be responsible for supporting development of the GBSD major maintenance vehicles. The candidate will use technical principles, theories and concepts and apply them to develop recommended solutions to technical problems.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the skill and ability to perform professional tasks in one or more aspects of a product lifecycle, to include coordination between other teammates, supervisors, project leaders and other professionals. Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, including critical thinking and technical problem solving skills.

Candidate will utilize their understanding of CAD design principles and ability to understand requirements that drive design.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

•Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree

•Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD

•Experience with 3D design / 2D drawing CAD utilizing Siemens NX or similar software

•Experience establishing product requirements, design of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment

•A current active DoD Secret clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

•A STEM Masters degree

•Hands on experience with equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, power, hand and measuring tools

•Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

•Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite – Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

•Experience with Siemens NX CAD tool

•Experience with Teamcenter PLM tool

•Experience with DOORS requirements management tool

•A current active DoD Top-Secret clearance

Salary Range: $68,100 USD – $102,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $83,800 USD – $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
