Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking an SCA Computer Operator 4 interested in professional and personal advancement prospects in a challenging work environment supporting our U.S. Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. The SCA Computer Operator 4 will help define the future by working side by side with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, U.S. military, and personnel from other Governmental organizations.
Responsibilities:
Supports U.S. Army simulation-based training and employs the Army’s Warfighters’ Simulation (WARSIM)
Prepares WARSIM and its components for operation during MCTP Warfighter Exercises (WFX)
Prepares simulation components for shipment to and from training exercise sites across the United States and overseas
Builds and distributes hard drive images; installs, configures, and administers servers and client workstations; loads software patches and security updates
Sets-up, tests, and monitors the performance of both Microsoft and Red Hat Linux-based servers and workstations, and responds to trouble calls at the exercise training site
Installs, configures, and sets-up exercise control and collaboration client computers
Conducts routine maintenance of MCTP systems hardware and software
Assists with troubleshooting and repairing local area networks
Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years of professional and/or administrative experience
Associate’s degree
Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance, and must have at least a valid interim Secret security clearance in order to start
Must have or acquire a valid CompTIA A+ or Security+ certification within 6 months of hire
Continuing education in Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)/Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) computing environments is an ongoing requirement
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to travel in the United States and overseas to support simulation-based Army training exercises as needed (up to 50% of the time)
Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas
Preferred Qualifications:
Helpdesk and/or systems administration experience
Active DoD Secret security clearance
Military experience and knowledge of U.S. Army organizations, systems and operations
CompTIA, Microsoft and Red Hat Linux computing environment certifications
Salary Range: $26 USD – $26 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
