Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Senior Principal Accountant to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Amherst Systems Operating Unit and report to the Operating Unit Business Manager.
This position is located in Amherst, NY and offers a hybrid work schedule.
The roles and responsibilities of the Senior Principal Accountant include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead all aspects of billing process with internal and external customers
Process Intercompany billing including coordination/reconciliation with other sectors
Accounts Receivable aging, UBAR analysis, cash receipt posting, including follow up with customers or Treasury to facilitate payments
Collaborate with Contracts, Program Management and Program Finance ensuring accurate and timely billing and assist in project setup
Perform various account reconciliations
Review and coordinate the submittals of wire transfer requests with Treasury and Business Management for recording purposes
Work with SAP support to perform system testing associated with upgrades/ enhancements
Coordinate with Sector Accounting on submission of required data and ensure compliance with overall procedures
Establish eligible vendors for electronic funds transfer
Quarterly and year end reporting
Monthly reporting and analysis to support Rates and Budgets data requirements
Generation of incurred cost data and submission to Sector Rates and Budgets
Lead and coordinate budget process to support the Forward Pricing Rate Proposal for submission to sector
Drive forecasting accuracy of monthly budget forecasts via collaboration with budget owners
Provide support for internal and external inquiries and various audits.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field, with 10 years of professional related experience – OR – a Masters degree as described above with 8 years of professional related experience
Experience with Costpoint or SAP (or similar)
US Citizenship is required.
Defense program financial experience
Previous experience in billing or financial analysis
Understanding of government procurement types (FFP, T&M CPFF etc)
Experience leading teams and developing solutions to complex issues
Previously experience supporting conversion of ERP systems
Knowledge of GAAP and FAR
Knowledge of ASC 605 & 606 Revenue Recognition
Salary Range: $88,500 USD – $132,700 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
