Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Senior Principal Industrial Engineer for WCM – Lean Manufacturing Lead.

The Lean Manufacturing Lead for WCM works closely with a team of Manufacturing Industrial Engineers (IE) and Manufacturing Cell Leadership to:

Lead the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) from an Industrial Engineering perspective across the site and its manufacturing areas.
Help to lead and organize various Lean Manufacturing concepts and initiatives across the areas, including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizens, 5S, etc.
Identify and analyze the proper data sets to help manufacturing make successful decisions.
Coordinate and standardize the work in the manufacturing areas to drive Engagement and Continuous Improvement.
Support Facilities Layouts and Process Flow Analyses to help drive efficiency in manufacturing and support processes.
Help to identify and eliminate waste in the various processes across the site including operations, production, kitting, and shipping.
Instruct and coach the IE Team on Lean Manufacturing concepts and other IE related concepts to standardize World Class Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering processes and how they are implemented across the factory.
Develop Lean Training Modules for new manufacturing hires and support functions personnel.
Provide leadership and direction as a Project Manager for large scale projects.
Offer lead support to the Industrial Engineering team to support manufacturing needs.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or other STEM area and 9 years of relevant experience in Operations (or Master’s degree and 7 years of experience, or PhD and 4 years of experience)  
Industrial Engineering experience or Manufacturing experience
Green Belt Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Industrial Engineering
Black Belt Certified / Master Black Belt Certified
An advanced degree (MS or MBA)
Professional experience in Industrial Engineering
Experience in defense, aerospace, or automotive industries
Technical experience working in a manufacturing/production environment


Salary Range: $112,300 USD – $168,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
