Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Test Manager (Engineering Manager 2) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of the MQ-4C Triton program test activities.

This position will be located at Rancho Bernardo, CA.

Position Overview:

The Triton STE Lead and Section Manager reports to the Triton Test IPT Lead, Triton System Center Lab Manager and the Triton Test IPT Development Lead. 

The programmatic duties include but are not limited to supporting coordination and planning on ongoing as well as proposals for future Triton Development efforts.  The Triton STE Lead will also work across IPTs and schedule the assets in the Triton System Center in order to drive integration and test execution efforts across Triton Sustainment and Development.   This includes overseeing the development, checkout and formal execution of SYSIII Test Procedures, ensuring the timely CDRL delivery of formal Test Summary Reports; doing so may also involve active participation in test execution to meet program schedule.  The Triton STE Lead and Section Manager is also responsible for ensuring appropriate Lab Operations staffing support across first, second and weekend shifts. 

Responsibilities also include working across IPTs to ensure that the integration schedule timing meets the integration needs for both Test and other Triton IPTs.  The Triton STE Lead and Section Manager is also responsible for overseeing the development and release of the Integrated Test Plan as well as Test Readiness and Post Test Readiness Review presentations for each applicable IFC.  The Triton STE Lead and Section Manager is also responsible for maintaining Test Like You Fly testing methodologies in SYSIII testing as well as maintaining the TLYF database for any exceptions taken defining limitation in Lab Test that could result in different system performance during SYSIV Testing.   Finally, The Triton STE Lead and Section Manager is expected to participate in   Weekly Wall Walk and daily Hotwash meetings as well as any other meeting required to drive progress on Triton Programmatic efforts.

The functional homeroom duties include, but are not limited to; attending functional staff meetings, management of personnel (performance reviews, goal setting and coaching), coordination of job assignments, staffing, recruiting, developing process improvement plans and providing input, guidance and review for policies, processes, and procedures. The Section Manager duties will require 10-20% of the manager’s time.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, understand the company’s flight test requirements, procedures, and be capable of working in a matrix environment with multiple sources of management guidance. Candidates must be able to support extended shifts, occasional weekends, and holidays. Occasional travel to other Northrop Grumman sites will be required.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math along with 9 years related technical experience; OR 7 years with a Master’s

Experience in executing test (lab, ground and/or flight)

Active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Specific experience in lab, ground and flight test planning/execution

Experience in a flight test engineering leadership position

Experience as a manager

Experience in flight test of unmanned air vehicles

Experience as a Cost Account Manager and/or with Earned Value Management

Active DoD Top Secret clearance

Salary Range: $130,500 USD – $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
