Our Software, Systems and Hardware Engineering teams are part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Airborne Multifunction Sensors Engineering (AMS) Division. Due to new business growth across the region, we are seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer / Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in San Antonio, Texas.?

Embedded Software Engineers at Northrop Grumman use Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. Our success is grounded in our ability to embrace change, move quickly and continuously drive innovation.

 

The ideal candidate(s) will be well versed with programing in Java and/or Python. Prior software development experience, working knowledge of C / C++, and ability to efficiently operate in a team environment will be a critical part of this position.

 

How You Will Contribute to the Mission:

Develop embedded systems using primarily C/C++ across all phases of the software development lifecycle

Interface with systems engineers to develop flow down software requirements and technical specifications

Identifying risks, suggesting mitigation, tracking defects, developing resolutions, and reporting status

Develop complex software solutions, develop, and execute unit tests, build verification test plans, and track and report test status

Conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents

Actively participate as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) member in design reviews and technical peer reviews

Prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required, to implement tasking assigned

 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite in San Antonio, TX.  

 

This position may be filled as a Principal Embedded Software Engineer level or Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer based on the qualifications listed below

 

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Embedded Software Engineer Level – Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience (3 years for MS degree, 0 years for PhD)

Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer Level – Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 9+ years of relevant experience (7 years for MS degree, 4 years for PhD)

Experience working in C/C++

Active U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance or higher

Special Program approval required to start

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency developing real time embedded software

Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance

Experience in algorithmic application development and optimization

Knowledge of Radar, Electronic Warfare, or Space technologies

Experience with VxWorks and/or Linux Operating Systems

Salary Range: $95,100 USD – $142,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,900 USD – $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
