Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer/ Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in beautiful Boulder, CO.

Position Overview:

As a Systems Engineer you will be developing and sustaining systems using current technologies and others yet to come. We are seeking individuals who have a thirst for knowledge, approach each day with optimism, and have a relentless drive to solve complex problems. The selected Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer will work the Specialized Warfare Defense Contract (SWDC) BOA program, responsible for System Integration & Test Activities, Software Installation, Hardware & Software integration, cross functional troubleshooting, and verification & validation. The job involves significant teamwork and coordination with a variety of engineering disciplines and customer representatives.

Essential Functions:

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform/Supports software installation and Integration efforts
Document, test and debug software
Collaborates with software developers in an Agile environment
Coordinates with HW/SW team to perform retests and regression tests once defects are corrected
Analyze system capabilities to identify software bugs
Support Test Events as needed
Ability to travel on occasion to Northrop Grumman and customer
Communicates regularly with program management, customers, and engineering management
Generates applicable documentation (i.e. Test Cases, Event Plans, etc.)
Provides problem resolution and improvement recommendations with strong time management skills
Up to 20% travel to NG and Government locations within Colorado

BQs for a Systems Engineer: 

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 1 year of experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience
Experience or related experince in the development, test, modernization and/or sustainment of Command and Control systems, and/or Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems
Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports
Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start and the ability to acquire a Top Secret security clearance
Security + or DOD Directive 8570 compliant (or ability to obtain one within 6 months)

BQs for a Principal Systems Engineer: 

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience
Experience or related experience in the development, test, modernization and/or sustainment of Command and Control systems, and/or Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems
Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports
Experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start and the ability to acquire a Top Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of DOORS, JIRA, ClearCase/ClearQuest
Experience in an Integration Test and Requirements Verification environment
DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI eligible highly desirable
Experience with formal requirement verification
Experience with Test Case Development for verification of Requirements
Linux experience
Experience creating integration & test verification test plans and procedures

Salary Range: $104,600 USD – $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
