Northrop Grumman Global Operations Security is seeking a Manager 3 who will lead the Enterprise Risk Management Council (ERMC).  This risk management leader will provide technical and project management support to the enterprise to enhance the process for identifying, analyzing, and managing risks. This position will be located in Falls Church, VA, and will require the selected candidate to be on-site in Falls Church as needed.

The ERMC is a new council with executive level sponsorship and the leader of this council will have broad responsibility in defining enterprise risk management specifications, process, and resources needed to ensure success.  The ERMC is chartered to inform the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of risks across the enterprise and ensure that mitigation plans are in place.  This position will lead the ERMC, which will be comprised of committee members from Legal, HR, Finance, Strategy and Development, Global Operations, Compliance, Government Relations, Supply Chain, Sustainability, and other relevant functions as needed. 

The key duties and responsibilities for the Enterprise Risk Management Council leader are as follows:

Assist in formalizing and updating enterprise-wide and business unit risk appetites and tolerances.

Work with management to review and prioritize corporate risks based on the company goals and objectives, risk appetite, and emerging issues.

Partner with business/function leaders and risk owners to develop and monitor risk mitigation plans/projects for priority risks across the enterprise.

Advise on risk-related tools, technology solutions, and communications to embed ERM into the company’s culture.

Promote and influence sound risk management practices across the company by facilitating presentations, workshop sessions, and other means of communications on process improvement, risk identification, assessment,  control, and risk mitigation.

Assist in reporting on key corporate risks, risk plans, risk trends, and ERM program activities to the Senior Executives and the Audit Committee quarterly or as needed.

Work with business units and functions to evaluate process or control breakdowns, losses and risk exposures, and to improve operational procedures with appropriate internal controls.

Identify areas within a business or function that require or would benefit from formalized or improved business processes, and lead or assist with developing and implementing such processes.

Effectively partner with other compliance and risk professionals and business units to ensure risk assessment activities and tools are leveraged consistently and efficiently.

Effectively partner with senior operating company executives regarding their risk profiles and risk management activities.

Maintain ERM program information, risk inventory and descriptions, risk plans, risk program descriptions, presentations, and risk management education/training materials.

Develop and implement an ERM communication and training program (including knowledge sharing program and tools).

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with 12 years’ of experience or Master’s degree with 10 years’ of experience.

Broad understanding of cross-functional risk disciplines, performance methodologies, regulatory and economic capital allocation methodologies, economic drivers of profitability, and exposure to operational risk.

Solid knowledge of the management of risk and professional standards, and experience in quantifying, measuring, aggregating, and mitigating risk.

Strong presence to influence and direct others without direct authority.

Ability to think strategically, globally, and cross culturally in order to provide insight into risk management methodologies.

Ability to effectually collaborate with management, and to multi-task, initiate and adapt to change, work well under pressure, problem solve, and accept challenging assignments.

Possess successful track record of completion of projects on-time with minimal supervision.

Experience in senior executive communications and business reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics/Actuarial Sciences.

Experience working in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) field for a large corporate environment or consulting firm is highly desired.

Strong knowledge of ERM or GRC tools, such as SAP, GRC, BWise, Workiva, Archer, or MetricStream.

Current DoD Secret security clearance.

Salary Range: $160,200 USD – $240,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
