This position is located in Mesa, AZ. The selected candidate is expected to be within commuting distance to the site, or relocate in the event they are not local. Schedule is Hybrid which requires average of 75% on-site support.
The RMSS role at the Mesa site is expected to be 80% system safety, 5% reliability, 5% maintainability, and 10% general systems engineering. The candidate will be expected to be an integral part of the systems team and support several competing priorities. While the candidate will be part of the systems team they will be solely responsible for the RMSS function after coming up to speed. For candidates with limited experience in RMSS training/mentoring will be provided and all that is needed is a willingness to learn.
Activities will be focused on System Safety engineering activities but there will be some Reliability and Maintainability. The Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety Engineer performs reliability and maintainability modeling and analysis and safety assessments requiring a full use and wide application of Engineering principles, theories and concepts and precedents for both product development and product line management in Medium Caliber Gun Systems.
Works as a member of the integrated product team resulting in creation of system safety, reliability and maintainability requirements and designs that comply with these requirements.
Prepares Safety Assessment Reports and technical data packages and presentation material in support of Safety Review Board Reviews including Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) in accordance with commercial standards and MIL-STD-882.
Calculates Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time Between Unscheduled Removal (MTBUR) (MIL-HDBK-217 & GEIA-STD-0007).
Establishes, monitors, and verifies reliability performance requirements for fielded gun systems, design changes, and new development efforts to ensure that program requirements and warranty business cases are achieved.
Presents work products at program reviews, proposals, or other project meetings.
Ability to scope and generate comprehensive reports for internal and external customers.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
5 years of engineering experience with bachelor’s degree in STEM degree from an accredited institution or 3 years of directly related experience with a master’s degree.
1+ years of directly related RMSS engineering experience or 3+ years of systems engineering experience and a willingness to fully learn the RMSS role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fast learner and have a strong interest in System Safety
Experience engaging different teams and influencing individuals at all levels
U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Must be able to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives as an Employee Possessor.
Salary Range: $87,600 USD – $131,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
