Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Manager, Quality 1 to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA.

The Quality Manager develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with manufacturing and engineering functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience with manufacturing, quality, maintenance or inspection assurance activities (preferably including inspection, test, dimensional, NDT or calibration). The candidate will be required to have strong collaboration skills and demonstrated capability to partner cross-discipline/cross-function. This is a 2nd shift position.

Roles and responsibilities:

Leads teams engaged in inspection schedules, and performance standards.
Engages on the shop floor and in work activities to provide direct support as needed while additionally coaching and mentoring facility personnel in quality methods and procedures.
Assures compliance in program quality, risk management, safety, process improvement, subcontractor and supplier quality, configuration and data management in accordance with contractual requirements.
Develops, manages, and monitors operating unit quality metrics, corrective action boards, and program audit metrics and processes to facilitate continuous improvement activities.
Leverages comprehensive metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess program quality performance and risks.
Frequent interface with customer representatives, including on-site DCMA representatives, concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and contractual clarifications.
Maintains compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and processes to ensure the performance and quality of products conform to established standards, specifications and customer requirements
Promotes the professional development of the quality engineering workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s & 5+ years of relevant experience (or 9+ years of relevant experienin lieu of degree)
Excellent oral and written communication, data analysis and problem solving skills
Experience managing both salaried and hourly employees
Ability to successfully engage on the shop floor to provide solutions and coach and mentor others in the use of quality principles and practices
Experience leading continuous improvement activities
Demonstrated problems solving skills in a manufacturing environment and can demonstrate a high level of understanding concerning Quality Assurance, Product Assurance and Mission Assurance; is a decisive decision maker
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated technical issues
Experience working and lead effectively in a team setting
Experience articulating concepts and concerns to technical and non-technical professionals
Proficient with MS office
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse group, establish clear expectations and inspire commitment, building teams, value diversity and put people first
Experience furthering continuous yet controlled improvements in organizations and processes and strengthening of workforce skills through application of lean thinking principles and tools
Experience formulating, documenting, planning, executing, and managing project plans and initiatives
Prior experience with inspections and tests
Prior experience working with union employees
Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated business acumen. Clearly demonstrated commitment to open communication and customer satisfaction
Experience working with Government agencies
Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System certification process
Experiencing managing teams performing GD&T
Active/Current DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret

Salary Range: $98,800 USD – $148,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
