SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Position requires knowledge of diverse assembly and test techniques. Successful candidate will have knowledge of bonding techniques, including structural/nonstructural, mixing and working with Adhesives, Epoxies, and Silicones and electromechanical assemblies.

Ability to read engineering drawings and application of processes, procedures and documents relative to hardware commonly found in the aerospace industry. Candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing usage and application. Position requires experience in the skills relative to the aerospace assembly field.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualification

High School diploma or equivalent and additional education and/or related experience in spacecraft assembly.
Ability to read blueprints, process documents and engineering related documents.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Past experience building spacecraft structures, sub-structures, deployable’, hinges and electromechanical assemblies.
Experience using common hand tools and calibrated tools Torque Wrenches, Heat Guns, Crimp Tools, Soldering Irons, Thermal Wire Stripers, Microscopes, Thermal Chambers/Ovens, etc.
Familiar with electromechanical assembly. Have common knowledge of precision type assembly work
Installing/bonding heaters, thermistors, thermostats onto assemblies. Installing gears, electrical motors. Thermally install interfaces. All parts will be properly assembled together.

Salary Range: $51,800 USD – $86,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
