Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is the prime contractor for the Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) Pre-Planned Product Improvement (P3I) program. The JTAGS-P3I team is developing and deploying mission ground processing systems worldwide. These systems receive, process, and disseminate Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) sensor data in support of the theater missile-warning mission.

NGDS has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our JTAGS-P3I Integration and Test (I&T) team.  This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

The JTAGS-P3I team is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a background and interest in systems engineering, integration and test, and system performance analysis. This position will be involved with requirements development, decomposition, verification, and management; measuring system performance, evaluating algorithms and recommending possible solutions to technical performance/software issues; perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, and test.  Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have a minimum experience of 5 years with Bachelor’s in STEM or 7 years with a Master’s in STEM
Willingness to handle highly technical and challenging tasks
Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical information effectively and clearly
Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
Experience development engineering documentation (requirements, testing, procedures, etc.)
Candidate must possess active DOD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledgeable of Missile Warning ground processing systems (e.g., JTAGS, SBIRS, etc.)
Knowledgeable of OPIR mission processing concepts and architectures
Software scripting experience (e.g., automated analysis or test tools)
Experience using an analytical coding environment (e.g., MATLAB, Python, etc.) to modify and use analysis tools
Familiar with models and simulations of OPIR sensors and threats
Experience using requirements management systems engineering tools such as IBM DOORS
Experience with software and system level testing
Experience with LINUX a plus
MBSE experience a plus

Salary Range: $95,100 USD – $142,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
